Restoran Dulu & Kini @ KLMUC
Located right in the heart of KL (Jalan Raja Laut, opposite Plaza Hotel), is a new food destination, Restoran Dulu & Kini @ KLMUC. The restaurant is a joint-venture between KLMUC and Malai Food Industries, and brings to you an authentic Malay dining experience.
The name Restoran Dulu & Kini @KLMUC takes after the ambiance of the restaurant, adorned with vintage photos of the city set amidst the present backdrop of today's Kuala Lumpur. What's unique too is that the restaurant will be manned thrice weekly by students of KLMUC themselves.
A soft launch was held recently and saw a good attendance by bloggers and other guests, including celebs Chef Adu and Halim Othman.
The guests were in for a real feast as they were treated to local Malay delicacies such as Asam Pedas Tulang Rawan, Ubi Kayu with Sambal Ikan Tamban and Pengat Durian. Have a look!
And seriously, folks. The food here just tastes awesome and authentic. My own personal favourites include the pengat durian, kambing panggang, ikan patin masak tempoyak and all the Malay kuih muih.
And the great news is this scrumptious buffet spread is available daily during Ramadhan for only RM48 nett (adults) and RM12 nett (children under 12). Value for money indeed!
Address: Blok A, Wisma Sachdev, 16-2, Jalan Raja Laut, KL. Call 016-680 6994 for bookings and enquiries.

Reach Out Run 2015
It was some 10 months ago that I last entered a running event, I.e.: the Kuching International Marathon. And to be honest, I've not done that much cardio since then too, focusing more on weight training. But recently, I did a work event collaboration with IM4Ufm, and since I follow them on social media, I came across their post on this event about a month plus ago. Thinking it'd be good fun, and that I'd have enough time to "train", I signed up for the 5km Fun Run (nak gelak lah tu!).
As it turned out, I only managed a few runs these past couple of weeks, which was kickstarted when I was in Perth for the school holidays. But really, what's the worst that could happen? Walking the whole route? Nothing wrong with that! Hehe.
And so this past Sunday, I made my way to Putrajaya for the event. It was already drizzling when I left the house and it got heavier when I reached the event venue. So, many of us took shelter at one of the buildings and did our stretching there. You can also imagine that it was a pretty cool day, which is just the complete opposite to how humid Putrajaya usually get.
The 10km run was flagged off right on time at 7.30am and then it was time for the Fun Run at 7.45am, which was also participated by the Youth & Sports Minister, YB Khairy.
The route was pretty straight forward and flat. We started at the Palace of Justice, got on to the bridge near PICC, made a u-turn, then ran straight back to where we began. I did an OK time, although it's nowhere near my personal best.
It was also great to bump into quite a few of my ex-Media Prima colleagues there. Overall, a well-organised event that also handed out a nice medal and goodie bag. Well done all!

Showdown The Movie: The Teaser
Anticipation is building up as Showdown was featured prominently during the Anugerah Drama Festival 2015 on TV3 this past weekend. For the first time, a teaser was screened, and the actors/dancers then proceeded to open the awards show with a scintillating performance. Here it is again, in case you missed it...

GEN X vs GEN Y
An all-out war erupted a couple of days ago which started with a tweet (but, of course). Comedian Harith Iskander tweeted a joke (as he normally does) about Legoland. The same tweet was COPIED AND PASTED by another twitter user and sent out to the world, effectively passing it off as his own original thought.
OK, let’s pause for a while and basically evaluate YOUR own
reaction to this piece of information. How do YOU feel about it?
I related this to a Gen X mate of mine yesterday during lunch,
and his jaw virtually dropped.
Of course this wasn’t so with quite a number of people on
twitterverse who basically thought Harith was being childish and, er, “old”
about things. One of the tweets I picked out was: “Tak nak tweet kena copy, tak
payah la main twitter”.
This tweet alone shows why we are doomed in so many ways. At
this point, the younger lot out there are already thinking that this is
another, “listen to us, we’re old and wise, and you’re wrong” rant.
Well, it might be that. Haha. But apart from the generation
gap, what’s more serious here is the “VALUES GAP”.
You see, after picking my mate’s jaw off the floor, we went
into the subject proper and basically said in unison that we’d never dream of
doing such things cos “WE HAVE ETHICS”. It’s not really even about how you
“main twitter”, but about how we negotiate through life with honesty, and
respect for others. Pretty basic expectations in any culture and upbringing,
really.
It didn’t help that others piled on the disrespect with “dah
tua pun nak kecoh” tweets, when he merely asked the dude why he did not simply
retweeted his tweet.
I don’t really have an earth-shattering conclusion, just
that maybe we could do better with re-instilling these values amongst those in
our circles first. It’s getting chronic out there with people sending out job
resumes through their jantanidaman@yahoo.com
emails, refusing to spell properly (or CAN’T spell properly), and basically
having no regards for intellectual integrity. And, no people, there’s nothing
“biasalah” about all these things…
