10 days of screening and most of the feedback has been positive! A number of people have gone to see the film more than once, and that's great news. But hopefully, the word-of-mouth will get more people to the cinemas. Showdown The Movie: Gala Premiere

A little late, but hey, why not? The Gala Premiere was held on 6 April 2016 at GSC, Quill City Mall and I just want to say thanks to everyone who came in their glamorous best! And thanks as well to the team that made it happen.

It was extra special for me too as the fam was in the house, yo!

After the premiere, guests then moved over to Versus, a club located on the 6th floor (who knew Quill City Mall had a banging new club?). And what a show it was! Hosted by Hafiz, the crowd was treated to the best in the hip-hop scene with Altimet, Sonaone, Arabyrd, Wakaka Crew, Dem Lepak Boyz, amongst others.

Showdown The Movie: Promo, Promo, Promo!

Just a couple more days before the movie opens in cinemas nationwide and the cast and crew have been busy with promo activities across all platforms, including yours truly :)

Last week, we had a special meet & greet session at KLMUC with a special 5-min sneak peek of the film.

Along with Pat Ibrahim, I also "returned" to MHI to talk about Showdown.

And much earlier than that, a press conference was held at The Bee, Publika where the new Nico music video for "Inilah Nasibku" also made its debut. (Watch it, it's brilliant!)

Showdown The Movie Di Pawagam 7 April 2016! #showdownthemovie

Dalam post yang sebelum ini, saya ada sebut filem Showdown bakal ditayangkan di pawagam pada bulan Januari 2016. Tetapi pihak Grand Brilliance baru-baru ini mengumumkan tarikh baru, iaitu 7 April 2016.

Promo untuk filem ini turut diadakan ketika siaran Anugerah Juara Lagu 30 pada Ahad lepas. Memang happening!

Dan ini pula promo untuk siaran di TV pertama buat filem Showdown...

Showdown in Cinemas 7/4/2016! #showdownthemovie

It has taken a pretty long while, but Showdown will be in cinemas 7th April 2016! Yup, finally! I started writing the screenplay some three years ago, and after several revisions, shooting started in mid-2013. So it's been quite a wait for everyone involved :)

But anyway, a couple of private previews had been organised these past couple of months, including one at One Utama recently.

With producer Tengku Iesta and legendary rap trio, Nico! (Yes, that classic Nico tune is featured in the film)

With director Khai Bahar and Hafiz (who plays himself in the film)

With super-talented 14-year-old Benladin who also gets to strut his stuff in Showdown

There was also another preview a couple of months back at Basecamp studios in Ampang. That was the first time I got to see the cast and crew again after such a long while.

Showdown The Movie: The Teaser

Anticipation is building up as Showdown was featured prominently during the Anugerah Drama Festival 2015 on TV3 this past weekend. For the first time, a teaser was screened, and the actors/dancers then proceeded to open the awards show with a scintillating performance. Here it is again, in case you missed it...

Showdown The Movie: It's On!

Indeed, production has begun on my 2nd screenplay, "Showdown The Movie" (working title)! But with a new job and everything, it wasn't until last week that I got to finally visit the set to meet the cast and crew, most of whom I first got to know during the production of "Mamak Cupcake".

But as you can see from the pic above, things are looking great. I really get a rush every time looking at real time updates via the director Khai's own Instagram account or through GB's fb page.

And I heard more great things about how things are turning out as well as the awesome choreography in the hands of Pat Ibrahim. In fact, some of the cast members were telling me how they were really looking forward to watching the film... after five days of shooting. Hehe.

This week, the guys have been shooting in Penang, the location of the film's first few scenes.

In case  you didn't know, the film stars Reza Hasbi (of "Pilih Kasih") in the lead role, Izara Aishah, Iedilputra, Azad Jasmin, Maria Farida, Ammar Alfian, Ben Ladin and the who's who of the BBoy world like Zero Havoc,  Juon, Khef and many more!

Showdown: The Movie

Yes, the word is out. My latest screenplay that will go into production soon is "Showdown: The Movie" (working title, of course). And yes, it IS based on the dance reality show on 8TV, but this is not a docu-drama, but a full-fledged feature film using the popular series as the backdrop for a fictional story.

The idea for it came sometime back, but after discussions with my Primeworks and Grand Brilliance mates, I actually sat down to write it in October last year. It took me one and a half months to finish the first draft and to date, I have done four different rewrites and updates.

The film will be directed by Khai Bahar, with Showdown the series's executive producer Sunil Kumar being a big part of the whole set-up. Renowned choreographer Pat Ibrahim is also onboard and it will be shot in Penang and KL.

Things are really getting exciting now as last week, we held auditions at Sri Pentas 2, mainly to find dancers and crews. And we had some powerhouses and familiar names coming over to be a part of this historic film (yes I'm hyping this baby up really good!).

We've also confirmed some of the leads for the film but really, it's not easy finding the right talents for this, the major question being; do we hire actors who can dance, or dancers who can act?

A second round of auditions will be held next week, so spread the word if you know of people who would be perfect for this!
