Guys, the 24th and last episode of Kerana Karina 2 comes on today. So don't forget to watch the heart-wrenching conclusion!

My KK2 Cameo - For Real!

I was at AIM a few saturdays back when I got a Missed Call from an unfamilliar number. Then an sms came in that said KK2 director, Aidil, was offering me a scene to appear in. Gulp! - was my first reaction. Of course, it'd be totally cool to appear in the drama I co-created and wrote the story for... And I kinda knew which part Aidil was talking about. But instead of accepting right away, I chose to sleep over it and decide the next day, which was also the day of the shoot.

When "tomorrow" came, I was pumped up to give it a shot. I called Aidil and got a brief from him on what to wear, etc. And since I had a copy of the script, I started practising my lines. Oh yes, the "producer" part actually had 3 whole lines.

Location was at Sri Pentas, and when I finally joined the production team, of course I was greeted by "wah, you'll be acting with us!" from some of the leads. Next up was makeup, and the "star" that I am, I actually asked for my hairstyle to be changed, after the first attempt made me look more like a banker than a film producer.

Then it was time to shoot. Aidil showed me what to do for a bit, and then it was .... "Action!".

The main shot just took 2 takes. Yes, please be impressed. And I didn't really fluff my lines. After doing the various closeups, we were done for the scene. And I was confident Aidil wouldn't have to edit me out later. Phew!

So yes, the scene is in and it will be in episode 6 of KK2, which will debut on GUA on 28th May. Hit me with some comments later, ok? But as they say, if you've got nothing good to say... : )

KK2 Theme Song - TIADA SEKALI

Of course we had to have a theme song for Kerana Karina 2! And this time we got Johan Nawawi to compose and produce the tune, with lyrics by, ahem, power-crazy me.

But if I only took about 3 hours to complete KK1’s theme song “Yang Mana?” performed by Marsha, it took me a couple of days for “Tiada Sekali”. Why? Well, while the end product might appear to be pretty simple stuff, finding the right words to fit into the context of the story proved to be a tad tricky.

And really, I think “Tiada Sekali”, performed by Tunku Tiara, who plays Zelfa in KK2, will only be fully understood and appreciated towards the end of the story.

Tiara herself did very well on the song. She's got a very pleasant tone and will do well in the industry with these sort of ballads. At least that's what I think.

Kerana Karina 2 Returns Today!

Today’s D Day folks! Kerana Karina 2 makes its debut on GUA.COM.MY and the buzz has begun! And of course, we were on Malaysia’s favourite morning talkshow, MHI, to promote KK2.
One of KK2’s new stars, Tunku Tiara opened accounts for us, so to speak, by singing the theme song “Tiada Sekali”, after which director Aidil Fitri, Marsha, Tiara and myself got down to the business of selling KK2.

Tiara was still a bit, um, unsure and even tergamam-ed at one point during the interview (no worries girl, you’ll do better I’m sure J ), but Marsha looked really comfortable now talking about her character and the show.

This is of course just the first of a slew of interviews the stars of the show will be doing in the upcoming weeks.



After the interview, we had brekkie at the Sri Pentas café and talked about KK3 and possible storylines. And some very interesting ideas came up, including one that involves turning KK into Prison Break! Ha ha!

Kerana Karina 2 Launched!

Bijou in Mont Kiara was the place, and the occasion was the launch and PC of Malaysian Internet sensation, KERANA KARINA 2!

The turnout was pretty awesome with almost every major print press, some noted bloggers and TV stations in attendance. And all the main cast members also made it this time around! (Although Roslan Aziz was a tad late : ) )

And really, the vibe just felt amazing. People were already familiar with the product and it felt more like a “reunion”, than a media event. It was great to see all the seats filled up, although that meant some guests had to stand to enjoy the occasion. Thousand apologies!

The event started of course with a speech by yours truly, after a short intro by the MC. Then, the attendees became the first few people in the world to actually watch the first 2 episodes of the new season. And judging by their facial reactions, I must say it was pretty positive.

But for the uninitiated, here’s a recap: Kerana Karina became the first ever Malaysian made-for-web drama when it was first screened by GUA.COM.MY last October. And while it was launched with no high expectations, KK garnered 834,000 views during the 2 months it was shown on GUA. And straight away it built a pretty big fan-base.

The first season starred Marsha Londoh in the title role, as well as Sazzy Falak, Zizan Nin, Bell Ngasri, Chelsia Ng, Zally Hussain, Alan Yun, Elaine Daly and legendary music producer Roslan Aziz.

For the second season, Marsha, Zizan, Sazzy, Chelsia, Bell and Roslan are all back, but we’ve also added more star power to the ensemble cast in the form of Norman Hakim, Nabil (Mentor), Diana Raffar, Sariah and Tunku Tiara (One In A Million).

What an awesome cast, huh?

At the PC as well, we announced the release of Kerana Karina Season 1 DVD, which will be out in stores in early June. So for those who missed the first season entirely (what’s wrong with you lah???), don’t forget to grab the DVD when it comes out.

And that’s not all!

There will also be a digital soundtrack made available exclusively on GUAMUZIK.COM.MY. There will be 6 songs on the soundtrack, including the new theme song “Tiada Sekali”, sung by Tunku Tiara. Johan Nawawi’s the composer, and I wrote the lyrics myself.

Kerana Karina Returns!

Yes indeed! GUA.COM.MY's drama sensation Kerana Karina (KK) will be coming back with its second season very, very soon! The first season made history when it was recognised by the Malaysia Book Records as the first ever Malaysian made for the internet drama. KK also garnered 834,000 views in the 2 months it was made available on GUA.COM.MY.

KK2 will of course see Marsha in the lead role yet again with most of the first season's favourites reprising their roles including Roslan Aziz (Dato Ross), Sazzy Falak (Sherina), Bell Ngasri (Boy) and Chelsia Ng (Jennifer). What about Zizan (Imran), you ask? Well, you'll just have to wait and see...

Just to recap, in the final episode of Season 1, Karina had to decide between love and career, and the show ended without the audience ever knowing her final decision. Well, the wait is finally coming to an end... Did Karina decide to stay put in KL for the sake of her career, or did she take that flight with Imran to the US?

For the second season, I had initially chosen an even more romantic direction for its storyline, but after some dicussions with a few of the key people of KK, I re-wrote the entire story which now includes more conflicts and some elements of danger. It'll indeed be more of a darker KK this time around, and I'm as anxious as anyone on the project to see how the audience will accept an edgier Karina...
