Where Awesome Happens: TonTon

So, it's been 3 weeks since we unleashed tonton.com.my on to the world, and the buzz online has continued to be positive. Hurrah!

And tonton continues to wow people with fantabulous content, as promised.

Not only do we have the best of local shows up now, tonton is steadily delivering a catalogue of other great titles including WWE classics, Korean soap-opera "My Girl", Dilbert animated series and Films & Stars entertainment news.

The latest of the lot are Hollywood series "Grey's Anatomy" and the first of a long list of movies, "Sepi".

Behind The Scenes: MHI Raya Promo Shoot

So yesterday, we shot the promo for the upcoming "MHI Raya" that will be coming to you "live" on the first and second day of Raya, from Seri Pacific Hotel, which was where we also had the shoot.

Thought it was gonna be a simple "Hai, jangan lupa saksikan MHI Raya", type of promo, but turned out, the director (none other than Ally Iskandar himself), had something creative in mind.

Don't want to spoil to surprise, so all I can say is that it's a spoof of a promo for a popular TV3 show. See if you can guess which one by just looking at the pics.

Anyway, five out of the six hosts made it for the shoot, and we also had the broadcast journalists and production assistants involved as well. So it was a real blast. Can't wait for it to come out! :)

Ramadhan So Far...

It’s already the second week of Ramadhan and so far, I’ve had 4 murtabaks, 3 steaks, chicken wings, nasi kerabu, nasi briyani, and plenty of kuih muih. Haha.

OK, but seriously, it’s been a good Ramadhan for most, I believe. The weather’s been kind, and there are no worries about a shortage of food anywhere. Ahem.

But one thing that’s most heart-warming, at least for me, is how technology is playing a meaningful part in spreading the joys and message of Ramadhan to everyone, everywhere.

Personally, I feel this year’s Ramadhan is much more “meriah” with a little help from social media. And I don’t just mean the thousands of tweets on “buka puasa” food choices, but more on the sharing of the magic and benefits of the Holy Month.

The constant well wishes that everyone showers on everyone else is also a good change in mood where generally people would get pissed off by the slightest bit of inconvenience. (Typical non-Ramadhan tweet: “I’m sooooo $%$^# late! Can’t the $%#$%# cat move out of my $%#$# way???”)

Yup, generally everyone’s nicer to each other and there’s more talk on the good things in life, which I think totally rocks lah.

Over on youtube and facebook, the mood’s quite the same. Videos are shared on the various miracles God has bestowed on us, and I believe, at least some of these have impacted some lives out there.

So yeah, it’s been a good Ramadhan indeed so far. And keep the spirit going, guys!

EPL is Here!

Yup, the big bad football show returns tonight and life will be complete again for most of us out there. After an above-average World Cup, expectations for the new season is rather high, to say the least.

If last season was close for positions 1-7, expect nothing less this time around. But what's more intriguing is the fact that the majority of teams will have to improve using whatever resources they have and pure tactical astuteness. Only Man City have had the luxury of buying up new duds... I mean, stars.

Of course I will have to comment on my team, Liverpool. After a disastrous past season, it's safe to say that this season can only see The Reds improving. But by how much, is the real question.

New manager Roy Hodgson definitely has the experience and know-how, but does he have enough quality personnel to make an impact? Well, I say... YES!

In Gerrard and Torres, who have decided to stay, Liverpool have two World XI players who could turn around any game. If injuries stay away from the duo this season, great things will definitely happen.
And oh yeah, having Joe Cole would definitely come in handy. Another proven game winner, Cole will get enough playing time at Anfield to keep his game sharp throughout the gruelling season.

Elsewhere, Reina will continue will to be a safe pair of hands in goal while the defense should find the discipline and toughness under Roy again.

So where will all this put Liverpool in the competitive mix? I say the Top 3 would easily be achievable. Anything more will be a big fat bonus. But yes, they will definitely win the league, NEXT YEAR.

TonTon.com.my Has Arrived

Yup, we made history this past Friday evening when we unleashed http://www.tonton.com.my/ on to the world! 12 months in the making, TonTon is a video portal like no other.

World Class. Intelligent. Amazing Content.

The launch itself was quite something, if I may say so. The aim was to put up something people will remember for a long time, and I think we managed to do just that.

Held at the Sunway Convention Centre, the launch had a bit of showbiz and pizzaz; punctuated by presentations by Izham, Paul and myself.

Hats off to the production team that came up with the concept and were flawless in their execution. Logistics was handled by our own Alt Media team and as usual, our guys delivered as well.

The opening gambit featured Showdown champs Wakaka Crew doing an incredible choreography that drew wondrous gasps for its sheer bravery and creativity.

Izham then came on first to intro the event. The invitation didn’t say what this was all about, so the audience was simply transfixed, waiting for the eventual announcement.

The biggest launch of our careers is coming up in less than 48 hours. Yup, it's really THAT big of a deal.

For the past one year or so, the Alt Media team have been working on a super secret project that will change the digital landscape of the land.
