Food, Glorious Food!: October Edition

So, for an ardent foodie, I know that I don't blog enough about food. Cos really, I prefer to actually eat, rather than write about eating. But since there's been some demand, I present to you a new, soon-to-be-recurring segment called "Food, Glorious, Food".

Armed with a new Canon camera, I will be bringing to you lot, the best of what I've consumed over the past month. This is not a proper food review tho, so don't expect info like addresses and pricing (pasal makan, janganlah kedekut, ok?). The only objective is to make you drool. Cool? OK, here we go:

Yup, I went to France (Cannes and Paris) earlier in the month, so here's some of the scrumptious stuff I had.
...
Seafood was aplenty, so indulge was what I did. Best part?
Some people at my table here "can't eat oysterslah. so funny".
So, it was all mine... MINE... muahaha
...
"You must try the gelato, ok boss?!": everyone kept telling me.
So I tried it out. A couple of times. For five days straight...But of course, the best of the lot was this...
...
Back in Malaysia, October was also a good month for trying out a couple of new things...

Instead of going for the normal coffee after a spot of shopping at KLCC,
we decided to go a bit English and try out "Afternoon Tea" at Chinoz on the Park.
...The highlight was indeed the scones... Yum
Before you think I don't eat rice, check out this following totally-kampung spread at Desa Paku Restaurant in Ara Damansara...
...
Daging salai lemak, pucuk manis labu, ayam kampung, ayam rempah,
keli berlada, ikan masin, ulam. Amacam?...And in case you're wondering, keli is indeed one of my favourite fish :)

Mantap...
...
And oh, how can I possibly go one month, no, one WEEK, without paying a visit to my favourite steak place of ALL TIME, Las Vacas :)
...
Seriously, this Black Angus Ribeye was sooo good,
I would have paid a thousand bucks for it. Maybe
...
On another trip, it was the lamb burger for me...
...It had been a while since our last trip to Wondermilk, so that was just what we did one balmy weekend afternoon.

But instead of just cupcakes, I had this... Super Beef Fries. Giler best
...
And finally, time for some awesome seafood. Which we had just earlier this evening. Located near Terminal 3 of the Subang Airport, South Sea Seafood has been around for yonks, but this was our first-ever visit. Turned out to be a really good one.
...
Kerapu in soya sauce

Local crabs in salted egg...Barbecue squid
So, are you enjoys? Haha

Need Cats?

WARNING: This entry will make you go AWWW...

Yes, I'm an animal lover. Growing up in JB, we had plenty of God's beautiful creatures around us; cats, birds, fish, chickens... And being an only child, yes, I talked to them, took care of them and cried when my favourites died (you can go AWWW now, or wait for later).

These days, I do make the occasional trip to the petshop to go all gaga over felines especially. But with the schedule that I keep now, it's hard to make a serious commitment as far as pets are concerned. (Especially expensive ones!)

BUT... this past year, we've taken on the task of feeding a couple of neighbourhood cats. Just a couple of unattractive strays that have enjoyed our generosity in the form of the best branded cat food. Haha.

Of course, being cats, they breed like crazy. A pretty promiscious lot they are. And recently, three new kittens were welcomed into the family. And this is the part where you go AWWW...

...

Best part is: they're up for adoption! Just drop me a line if you're interested :) First pack of Whiskas will be on me...

Bonjour, Paris!

So, after 5 days in Cannes, it was time for a weekend in Paris (chewah). But while the flight from Nice to Paris took about an hour and forty minutes, it took me a couple of hours to finally get to my hotel at Boulevard Girabaldi.
......
But hey, the hotel's at a great location, and after a quick shower, I was ready for some serious sightseeing. And when I say "great location", I mean it's very near to the Eiffel Tower. How near? "Just go straight, and after ze first building, turn left, and voila, Eiffel Tower," said the hotel reception. (It's actually a 10min walk though)

And when I finally got upclose, it really blew me away...
...

I mean, it's just truly a magnificent structure, one of those that you've got the see it for yourself to really appreciate.

After picking up some souvenirs, hooked myself up with a tour bus. And for Euro24, I got myself a 2-day ticket on the Les Cars Rouges which dutifully took us to all the must-see spots in the city.
...

It was a really relaxing journey that took us to the Grand Palais, Invalides, Notre Dame, Madeleine, among other places.
...

But it wasn't until we reached Arc De Triomphe at Champs Elysees that I decided to hop off the bus for a spot of shopping. Ahem.
...

Recognised as one of the world's most famous shopping districts, there were indeed a 1001 ways to max out your credit card(s).
...

The next morning, it was time for me to see the city on foot. My ultimate destination was Musee de Louvre, and although it took me longer than expected, the sheer beauty of the city made it all worthwhile.
....

.I mean, although my legs were a bit koyak after about 40mins of walking, the cool autumn air and the serenity of the Seine helped me out a great deal.
..

.
But boy was I glad when I finally reached the Louvre...
...

.
And since I got there early, the line to get in wasn't that long. Phew!
...

And really, it was dream come true for a history lover such as myself to be inside the most famous museum in the whole wide world. Especially since I got to be within touching distance of these two beauties...
...
..
1. Venus de Milo, and...
...
..
2. The Mona Lisa (but of course)
...

...Mission accomplished, I went home a happy man. Merci and au revior!
