Another weekend blessed with beautiful weather and, thankfully, no haze! This time around, our destination of choice was Taman Metropolitan Batu, somewhere in Sentul. And incredibly enough, this was my first visit!
Boy, have I been missing out on a gorgeous park!
The moment we entered the car park, we were greeted by beautifully maintained surroundings and the sound of birds chirping everywhere. In fact, I'd go as far as saying that there were more birds calling out here than at any other park I've visited in the Klang Valley. And I'm not exaggerating in the slightest!
There were also groups of people going through their obligatory Qigong movements, kids running around, and plenty of folks simply enjoying the morning air. It was lovely to see so many people making the most of a beautiful day outdoors.
And right from the get-go, I had my ears peeled (along with the ever-reliable Merlin app) as I went on the lookout for potential lifers. Hahaha.
And whaddya know? I ended up with FOUR!
Uh-huh. Four new species added to my growing list. 😁
One of them was this beauty, the Little Heron, which I spotted near the park's gorgeous lake. A lovely sighting, and certainly one of the highlights of the morning.
The other new additions were the Asian Brown Flycatcher, Common Tailorbird and Asian Glossy Starling.
Seriously, not bad, huh?
Of course, there were also the familiar regulars making their appearances, including these guys...
Not every bird needs to be a lifer to deserve a little attention!
So, another beautiful morning, another lovely park discovered, and another productive birding session for this humble beginner.
Four new lifers in one outing. I'll happily take that!
Alhamdulillah. ❤️🐦
