With three full days spent outside of the city, we didn't really have much time to really explore the city. But it was made somewhat easier by the fact that our hotel was right smack in the middle of everything at Flinders Street.
Anyway, on the morning of our arrival, we immediately did the most touristy thing there is. We went to the Zoo!
And yes, it was yet another well-maintained Zoo in Australia. The grounds were impeccably groomed and it lacked any overwhelming stench, which was pretty weird for a Zoo, no? But we had a really fun and educational time. A must-visit for any family visiting Melbourne.
Melbourne's definitely a walkable city as well, especially with the kind of cool temperatures we experienced. And of course, being in sports-mad Australia, I just had to check out some of the most iconic venues in the city, including the Etihad, and the Olympic Park featuring the world-famous Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) and the Rod Laver Arena across the street.
And no doubt, I just had to do a run in Melbourne, and so, the 24th Larian 40 Taman was done at Albert Park, venue of the Australian F1 GP! It was a good run, although it was really windy and running against it wasn't an easy feat. And as usual, running in low temperatures meant my hidung and mata became watery!
Other highlights include a visit to the awesome Queen Victoria Market where we picked up some cool items, Melbourne Central and also just going on a walkabout around Federation Square and the riverside.
We literally ended Melbourne on a high when we went up the Eureka Skydeck to catch a breathtaking view of the city. What a trip it was...
