Why content is important. I asked a friend at a certain media company what was their mission and vision recently. Sure, it sounds very cliched, but as I surfed local TV content recently, I was thinking, "What is the big picture agenda here?" Yes, entertainment, of course. We all know that. Then what?
As we are in the rebuilding period of our nation, what is our content industry doing? More of the same? Are we looking deeper into the soul of the nation to produce meaningful content?
What has it got to do with this Taiping news (above)? Well, stuff like this keeps happening (the country's first ever airport has reportedly been sold to a developer) cos there's no real appreciation for our culture and history. And it shouldn't be left to these small persatuans to fight for such things. The masses need to be informed, and this can be done through popular content.
Yeah I know, times are tough. Revenue comes first. So maybe I'm just wasting time writing about this stuff. But I would LOVE to be proven wrong...
